Our Commitment to Accuracy
Salary Take Home UK is committed to providing accurate, up-to-date UK salary and tax information. All tax rates, thresholds and allowances used in our calculators are sourced directly from official government publications, including HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) and the Scottish Government. We do not use estimated or projected figures — only rates that have been formally announced and published.
Who Creates Our Content
All content on this site is created and maintained by Marcel Tonet, an AAT-qualified accounting technician and CeMAP-qualified mortgage adviser with a background spanning technology and the UK financial services industry.
Marcel's qualifications are directly relevant to the subject matter of this site:
- AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) — covers UK income tax, National Insurance, payroll and personal taxation in depth.
- CeMAP (Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice) — covers mortgage affordability, income assessment and financial planning.
How We Source Tax Data
All tax rates and thresholds are taken from the following primary sources:
- HMRC Income Tax rates and allowances
- HMRC National Insurance rates
- Student Loans Company repayment thresholds
- Scottish Government Income Tax rates
We do not rely on third-party interpretations of tax law. See our full Tax Methodology page for a detailed breakdown of how each calculation works.
Review and Update Schedule
Tax rates in the UK change annually from 6 April. We review and update all calculator data immediately following each Spring Budget and Autumn Statement. Our standard update schedule is:
- April (annually) — Full update for the new tax year. All income tax bands, NI thresholds, student loan thresholds and Scottish rates are updated.
- November (annually) — Autumn Budget review. Any mid-year changes are applied within 48 hours of announcement.
- As needed — Emergency updates for any in-year changes announced by the government.
All pages display the tax year they apply to. If you notice an error or outdated figure, please contact us.
Blog Content Standards
Blog articles on this site are written to inform, not to provide personalised tax advice. Each article:
- Is based on current HMRC-published guidance at the time of writing
- Includes a published date and a last-reviewed date
- Links to official government sources where specific rates or rules are cited
- Carries a clear disclaimer that results are estimates and not a substitute for professional advice
